NimbleX 2007v2 is out! Print E-mail

NimbleX is a small but versatile operating system which is able to boot from a small 8 cm CD, from flash memory like USB pens or Mp3 players and even from the network. Because it runs entirely from a CD, USB or network it doesn’t require installation or even much hardware. NimbleX is based on Slackware with the use of linux-live scripts and it has a lot of this distribution advantages. One of them is the availability of thousands of free software packages that can be downloaded from the Internet. The beauty of it is that even if is small it has a beautiful graphical interface and also a lot of built in software for browsing the internet, writing documents, listening to music, playing movies and many more. You even have basic server functionality.

Most of the advantages are related to the small size, the combination of software packages and a pretty good hardware support. You can easily carry it with you and with the right combination of parameters you can make it do some interesting stuff. It's very easy to make NimbleX save the changes so it would be a lot more than a Live Linux. Because it has the ability to automatically detect and mount all the partitions you can access data on any another computers without even knowing the password, both on Linux and Windows. Now you can use it as a recovery disk or for any other purpose. Because of the low requirements you can also run it on old computers. NimbleX is very customizable and can be easily made to satisfy your needs.

I strongly advice you to read the manual because some of the info in there should be very helpful. I would also like to add that NimbleX it's still a work in progress for me and will try to make it a lot better for you. If you have any advice for me or if you found a solution to some of the current problems I be happy to take it into consideration for the next version.

I would also like to add that NimbleX is a project for the people. If you use it I hope you realize that I can't be held responsible for anything. Anyway, I'll try to help anyone that might have a problem but first you should check the Internet and then the forums. Last but not least, if you like this project maybe you can contribute with something.
