KDE 4.1.2 - still looking back PDF Print E-mail
NimbleX
Wednesday, 22 October 2008

A couple of weeks ago I compiled KDE 4.1.2 for NimbleX because I have to know if the switch should be made. The plain and simple answer is: not switching now. Eventually I think the switch will be made but as far as I am concerned KDE 4.1.2 is not there yet.

3 major things I didn't like about KDE 4.1.2:

  • It uses a lot more resorces than KDE 3.5
  • It is less user friendly than KDE 3.5
  • It has more bugs than KDE 3.5

Saving changes in NimbleX PDF Print E-mail
NimbleX
Wednesday, 06 August 2008

Even though NimbleX is a live-linux I see that more and more people want to use it installed on their machines and they want to save the changes they do in it. So, there are 2 very important things for the users. One is the installer and the other the saving the changes.

Now will discuss, saving the changes in a non technical manner.
I will start by telling you that I'm not saving my changes and I'm using NimbleX every day. I'm using the rootcopy only for the changes I need.

In theory, changes can be saved in 3 ways:
a) in a directory
b) in a nimblex.data file
c) in a partition

OpenOffice PDF Print E-mail
NimbleX
Sunday, 18 May 2008

I bet I'm not the only one that's a big fan of OpenOffice. When I heard OpenOffice 3 Beta was out, the first thing I did was a quick look to see what's new and then, of course, a quick spin on NimbleX. The most important thing that will be in OpenOffice 3 is support for DOCX (The new crappy format made default in Microsoft Office 2007).

IIS on XP vs. Apache2.2 on Linux PDF Print E-mail
Miscallenous
Saturday, 19 April 2008

Since recently I was pretty sure that IIS and Apache are pretty much the same when it comes to performance.
I have never been so wrong!

I was naive but since I have always used Apache and the net is full of people that say IIS is very good it's understandable... and actually it's very used.
